Free tool

Convert text between cases, in your own browser.

Paste a line or a page and switch it to UPPERCASE, lowercase, Sentence case, Title Case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and two more. It converts as you type, counts what you have, and sends the text nowhere.

FUEiNT Technologies is a software studio in Coimbatore, India, building custom software since 2014. This text case converter is one of the small tools we built for our own client work and publish free: it runs entirely in your browser, and asks for no account and no email address.

Use it now
Free, and no email asked

No account, no address, no watermark and no daily limit. There is no sign-up step because there is nothing to sign up to.

Nothing is uploaded

Every conversion is a few lines of JavaScript running in the page. Your text never reaches a server of ours, because there is no server of ours for it to reach.

Ten cases

Uppercase, lowercase, sentence case, title case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, inverse case and alternating case.

Converts as you type

The output updates on every keystroke and every change of case, and both boxes carry a live character, word and line count.

How it works

  1. Choose the case

Ten of them, named in their own style so you can see what you are picking before you pick it.

  2. Put your text in

Type it, paste it, or press Paste from clipboard and the left-hand box fills from whatever you copied last.

  3. Read the result

The right-hand box updates as you go — there is no wait and no button to press. Both boxes count characters, words and lines underneath.

  4. Take it away

Copy to clipboard puts the converted text where you need it. Clear all empties both boxes and starts again.

Worth knowing

The background, in plain words.

Which case goes where

camelCase (exampleText) is what JavaScript uses for variables and function names. PascalCase (ExampleText) is what the same languages use for classes and components. snake_case (example_text) is the convention in Python and in most database columns. kebab-case (example-text) is what URL slugs, CSS class names and filenames want.

UPPERCASE is for constants and short abbreviations. lowercase is for tags, metadata and anything that has to match regardless of how somebody typed it. Sentence case and Title Case are the editorial pair: sentence case for body copy and most headings, title case for titles where the house style asks for it.

How title case decides what to capitalise

It capitalises every word except a short list of small ones — a, an, and, as, at, but, by, en, for, if, in, of, on, or, the, to, v, via and vs — which stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word in the text. That is the ordinary editorial rule, and it is why "the" is capitalised at the start of a title and not in the middle.

Hyphenated words get both halves capitalised, so "state-of-the-art" comes back as "State-Of-The-Art". If your house style disagrees, that one you fix by hand.

What sentence case does with punctuation

It lowercases everything first, then capitalises the first letter after each full stop, question mark, exclamation mark or line break. Your line breaks are kept; a run of spaces after a full stop is normalised to one.

It has no idea that Delhi or Tuesday are proper nouns, and it will not put back a capital it has taken away. Sentence case is a first pass over a shouted paragraph, not a copy editor.

What snake_case and kebab-case throw away

Both lowercase the text, turn every run of whitespace into a single separator, and then delete everything that is not a letter, a digit or that separator. Punctuation goes, and so does every accented or non-Latin character: "café menu" comes back as caf_menu, and a line of Tamil or Devanagari comes back empty.

If you are making URL slugs from anything but plain English, read the output before you use it. This is the one place where the tool will quietly hand you something wrong rather than refuse.

Inverse case and alternating case

Inverse case flips every character: capitals go down, lowercase goes up. Alternating case ignores what you typed entirely and lowercases every character in an even position while uppercasing the odd ones — spaces count as characters, which is why the pattern appears to shift across a word break.

Neither is a naming convention and neither is reversible in any useful sense. They are here because people ask for them.

Who reaches for this

Developers moving a set of names from one language’s convention to another. Writers making headings consistent across a document. Anyone building URL slugs out of titles. Designers keeping button labels and interface text in one style rather than five.

All of it is the kind of job that is beneath writing a script and above doing by hand, which is exactly the gap a small tool fills.

Answers

Questions we are actually asked.

Is it actually free?

Yes. No account, no email address and no limit on how much text you put through it. Nothing on this page is a trial of anything.

Do you store the text I convert?

We never receive it. Every conversion happens inside your browser, so there is no upload, no copy on a server and nothing for us to keep or delete.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The two boxes stack instead of sitting side by side, and everything else behaves the same.

How much text can I paste in?

There is no limit we impose. The conversion runs on every keystroke, so a very large document will start to feel heavy while you type — paste it in sections if it does.

Why did my accented characters disappear?

snake_case and kebab-case strip everything that is not a plain letter, a digit or the separator, so é, ñ and every non-Latin script are removed. Use one of the other cases if you need them kept.

Why is "of" lowercase in my title?

Title Case leaves a short list of small words — of, the, and, to and about fifteen others — in lowercase unless they fall first or last. That is the standard rule rather than a bug.

Can I convert back?

Not by running the output through again. Punctuation and word boundaries that a conversion removes are gone, so put the original text back in the left-hand box instead.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, yes. Nothing after that point needs a connection.

Where to next

Other things here that are free.

Small inconsistencies are cheap to fix and expensive to live with.
